QEMU > Virtualbox

Ok, I’m not an expert on this . So , feel free to correct meΒ  ^_^

So, I set up Manjaro Linux on my computer and was very happy with it (screenshot of my Manjaro Linux desktop is the featured image ❀ ).I wanted to test out Kali Linux.A dear friend of mine, Shashank, is a pro user of it (His blog.Don’t bother checking it out πŸ˜› ).He said that he runs it on Virtualbox on windows. I’ve run OS-es on virtual box before on my old computer .They were all 32 bit systems and were not as graphics intensive. They ran ok on it.But I never really had much use of it other than to test out and see how different desktop environments felt.

So, I was trying to run Kali Linux on virtual box the other day and it was lagging like hell. Then I remembered this awesome software called QEMU ( had seen aΒ video about it on Youtube πŸ˜› ). Apparently, QEMU takes advantage of this software called KVM which consists of a kernel module that allows the guest code of the OS on the virtualization software to run directly on the host’s computer .This gives us better performance in the virtual environment.

So, I installed QEMU ran kali Linux on it with kvm enabled and got SO much better performance .Note that QEMU doesn’t provide a GUI to manage virtual machines. There are several gui front-ends available for QEMU though.

I first heard about KVM when I was installing android studio. They said that my cpu supports kvm and therefore I should use it to get better performance on the android studio emulator.

Note that KVM works only on certain supported 64 bit processors, but it should work on most new systems imo.

you can find more info about these softwares here:

My life is an anime!

This is totally not clickbait. If you haven’t seen or heard about this anime “My hero academia” before, you should.Watch it. It’s really good.So good that I’ve actually started relating my life to it.So, it’s the second season and the hero killer arc has started. The students are now going for internships!Guess what i’ve been doing for the past week….that’s right , INTERNSHIP!! MIND==BLOWN

Also, did anyone else notice that the new intro of My Hero Academia was made by the same people who made the ending for Tokyo Ghoul Root A. The new costume looks cool too.

My friend Rajesh is a genius!

So, i have this friend .His name’s Rajesh (such a good name, i know.I’m gonna name my son Rajesh :3 ). He’s a complete nerd,LOVES disney movies and TV shows and he even plays pokemon with me.

Like i said in my previous blog , i’m running a fresh install of manjaro linux GNOME. This morning i was setting up softwares on my system and i left the pc for a while for it to download. When i came back to my laptop, the screen was blank. I just thought it’d went to sleep.I tried to wake it up by moving the mouse and tapping the touchpad.Nothing worked.Pressing the power button didn’t seem to do anything. The computer was still on,just doing nothing. So, i planned to drain the battery out by charging my phone so that it’ll eventually turn off. I was too lazy to remove the battery, because then I’d have to remove the keyboard and stuff. It’d be a time consuming task to say the least.

So, i did that, started my computer again and kept working.Later today,I’d left my PC again for a while and i was gonna play pokemon with Rajesh on pokemonshowdown.com. When i came back, same thing! I told Rajesh that i can’t play cuz my lap is frozen (disney reference #1).He told me to press and hold the power button for 5 or 10 seconds…..i heard a beep noise and voila! My PC turned off.It probably seems like nothing to people who’re used to laptops but i really just wanted to write about this to annoy Rajesh :P. Eff you Rajesh
